VOLVO 480 S

Katie

Sold 23/04/05

This was my day to day runabout, 480 S 1.7i manual, Metallic black. I bought this car off eBay about 8 months ago from Kent (nearly a 600 mile round trip).

Description: 480 S, 1.7i, Manual Transmission, Half leather interior, private number plate, new front light clusters, JVC CD player, Satellite Navigation, Speed camera snooper.

It has served me well for the time I have owned it, putting nearly 11,000 miles on the clock in the seven odd months I've had it.

Upon first sight the car seemed near perfect, but when driving it back it was far from that. A small list of problems:

bullet

Faulty connection on one of the running lights meant the light was constantly dim.

bullet

Head light motor was a bit dodgy but worked, I eventually changed it (took nearly 4 hours)

bullet

Fuel gauge was slow, but I've put up with it

bullet

Engine temperature gauge was duff, went up a little and then stopped.

bullet

The rear drivers side passenger sear was broken, don't really know how to fix it.

bullet

Paint on the speedo was badly flaking, this was replaced.

bullet

There were several small rust patches (not very major at all), I asked him specifically to look for any signs of rust, he said there were non at all.

bullet

There were several patches where the lacquered was peeling off  he said there was just 3 patches on the bonnet.

So all in all I was pretty peed off with him, but yet he refused to refund any money saying I had the opportunity to come and view prior to the auction ending, like I'm going to travel nearly 600 miles just to look at a car, I asked all the right questions etc, he was at work when I picked it up. Anyhow nothing was going to happen so I left him bad feedback (he had already left me positive) and that was the end of that.

Since then I have replaced some parts but I'm still left with some old problems, the list isn't quite as long:

bullet

Fuel gauge is still slow

bullet

Engine temperature gauge still doesn't work

bullet

bit of a rattle from the exhaust (rubbers on new back box need tightening)

bullet

Seat is still broken

bullet

Rear window heater switch is not working
